Appeal at WV Supreme Court to allow State Park drilling

Postby kimbroughton on Sun Oct 25, 2009 12:52 pm

WV State Forests can be harvested and mined, State Parks cannot. Right now there is an appeal at the WV Supreme Court to stop Cabot Oil and Gas Company from mining in a WV State Park (Chief Logan) as a judge has allowed it.

http://www.newsandsentinel.com/page/con ... l?nav=5057 If the Supreme Court does not overturn this, State Parks will be opened to oil and gas extraction. Anyone who has seen the impact of this on Wildcat Trail in Kanawha State Forest understands the impact this will have on protected space.

I am on IMBA's Mid-Atlantic Regional Leadership Advosiry Council and one of my jobs is to organize and fight such things. If this is an issue you are interested in getting behind to oppose, please let me know. You can contact me by emailing me at Kimberlyjoshi@gmail.com.

Thanks,
