This isn't my idea, but I like it, so I am taking it on myself to spread the word in hopes that it might actually happen.

Davis (the guy, not the town) has proposed on the mtbr.com forums that if a large number of mountain bikers were to arrive at the WV capital all at the same time, it might bring some attention to our collective distaste for these trail closures.

Here's the link to this thread at mtbr.com:

I agree with this Davis guy. 1000-plus pissed off mountain bikers on the steps of the Capital building would send quite a loud and strong message.
Let me know a date and time. I'll be there Twisted Evil

Sounds like a good idea. My only concern is a small turnout would make us look politically weak. It would take some serious organization and would need to be done quickly. I spoke with Capito's office two days ago and was told that the Seneca Creek amendments are not yet on the table. I suspect the pressure will grow on her soon.

Maybe an adhock race in and around Chas. A race on Sunday but a call to mountain bikers to the capitol on Sat. During the session or an interim would be best. We could move The Bear up. Moreover we could elicit the help of IMBA for maybe some $$ to pay for mailers and long distance charges.

just some thoughts

Hey- I'm getting ready to repost the IMBA Testimony that somehow got lost in the shuffle. Check it out.
